Here’s another warm hello to those July eyes 😊
What is it about acoustic music that makes it so mesmerizing? Is it that we know the words, if it’s a cover song, and lend our voice to it instead? Or is it so elegant that we don’t care to find the words to describe how we feel? Either way, along with some great song recommendations from a friend, I’ve also been enthralled by the sounds of the violin, cello, and guitar.
So, if you’re in need of a soothing “shh for a moment” type song, then I would recommend the instrumental cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah‘ with a honey-sweetened tea of your choice.
After so many revisions to this, I still can’t figure out how to express my gratitude for the support you’ve shown both Hajar and Secret last weekend—I’m still recovering from all the fun we had and from smiling so much! I’m sure they would join me in saying,
“Thank you for showing your love and support.”
In all seriousness, nothing warms my heart better than knowing “WE” played a part in someone smiling and making them feel special—give yourself that cookie you’ve been denying, you earned it! Those moments mean the most to me and that will never change.
Once again, I am so excited to share this weekend’s collaborator with you! Not only are her works and art choices phenomenal—those who follow and read her posts understand why—but she has been one of Jar of Poetry’s greatest supporters! Trying not to give too much away, again, I think we spent more time marveling at what we made and internally screaming within ourselves at having worked with each other.
Our posts will be up tomorrow at 9:30 AM and 9:45 AM (EST) on Sunday. She was the only one I collaborated with this week, so I will be sharing her exclusively with you and everyone on WordPress.
Which brings me to the next section of the letter…
As for JOP’s Collaboration Month, the thought of it is pretty daunting. Trust me, I’ve questioned this myself too—and I was the one who asked to do this back in Letter #7! Way to go me 🤦♂️
The way it feels can be compared to asking someone to dance. In this case, it’s me asking you. It sounds cheesy but we’ve all been there! Whether you’re the one asking or being asked, there’s still a bit of apprehension there—no matter which side you’re on.
Please don’t feel shy or embarrassed to either pass on the offer or accept it. Both answers will be met with the same respect and smile by me—in other words, you’re still cool in my book 😎.
Briefly bringing back what I talked about in Letter #7, the reason I wanted to dedicate this month to working with other writers is to do something JOP hasn’t done yet—plus, it gives me a reason to hang out with the writer(s) I follow and marvel at their work in the process 😁.
Having mentioned this, I would like to bring up the Contact Page on this site.
Keeping it short and simple as possible, anything and everything exchanged between you and me are kept private and will not be shared unless given permission to do so. Thus, the interview post Hajar approved prior to posting and the same for Secret’s posts.
*Note- I am also more than happy to just chat about whatever is on that mind of yours—no judgments whatsoever.
I take confidentiality serious and nothing will let me betray that. Once everything is said and done, I delete all the messages exchanged in my inbox and won’t bother anyone after that—I prefer to respond than initiate in pretty much any situation. You’re busy with your life doing your responsible thing. And I’m busy…😐 You know…destroying a population of gummy worms or something 😂🤣!
The main thing—at least in this section of the letter—is no matter what, I will still respect you in whatever you choose to do.
*Side note– In case you were wondering, my back-up plan was to post, as normal, if there were no collaborations for the weekend. So, it still works out! 😁
I am going to get back to finishing editing Saturday’s Private Selection. There are two that I can’t decide on which to post—you know what that calls for 😉!
Here’s to your day, wherever you are, being pleasant and a lot cooler than mine. (This heat, I swear 😒)
From my heart to yours,
